How we research, write and correct our guides

Our purpose

Every page exists to answer a specific question a Morgan Hill homeowner might genuinely ask about replacing or installing heating, cooling, ductwork or water-heating equipment. If a page cannot answer a real question better than the alternatives already available, it should not exist. We would rather publish a smaller number of thorough guides than a large number of thin ones.

What we will not do

• We do not invent numbers. No fabricated local averages, price ranges, rebate amounts, permit fees, energy savings percentages or survey results. Where a current figure matters, we name the authority to verify it with instead.
• We do not publish testimonials or reviews we did not receive. No invented homeowner quotes, no fictional case studies, no star ratings.
• We do not sell editorial coverage. No sponsored guides, no paid rankings, no "best contractor" lists, no brand endorsements in exchange for payment.
• We do not claim credentials we do not hold. The guides are general homeowner education, not engineering, legal or tax advice, and no page is a professional diagnosis of your home. The operator's contractor license is disclosed below and verifiable with CSLB.
• We do not manufacture urgency. Where waiting, repairing or reducing scope is a reasonable option, we say so.

How guides are researched

Content is grounded in established HVAC engineering practice — load calculation and equipment selection methodology, airflow and duct design fundamentals, refrigerant and combustion safety practice — together with California code requirements such as Title 24 and the permitting process administered locally. Where practice varies legitimately between good contractors, we describe the range of reasonable approaches rather than pretending one answer is universal.

Manufacturer marketing is not treated as a source. Neither is a contractor's sales script. When a claim is genuinely contested within the trade, we say that it is contested.

Neutrality on brands and companies

We are manufacturer-neutral. Installation quality, correct sizing and duct condition affect real-world outcomes more than the badge on the equipment, which is the point made throughout our estimate and installation quality guide. Where equipment tiers genuinely differ — staging, blower type, inverter control — we explain the mechanism rather than naming winners.

Commercial relationships

Morgan Hill Home Comfort is operated by Air Care Heating & Cooling, Inc. (CSLB #984584), the licensed contractor that handles estimate and service requests submitted through the site. That relationship is disclosed on every form and in the footer. It does not change what the guides say: no page is written to favour a particular product mix, no brand or company is endorsed in editorial content, and no guide is edited to steer a reader toward a larger job.

The practical test we apply: if a guide's honest conclusion is "repair it", "reduce the scope" or "wait a year", we publish that conclusion. Several pages on this site do exactly that.

Review and updates

Pages covering code, incentives and equipment standards are reviewed more frequently than evergreen explainers, because those are the ones that go stale. When requirements or program details change, we update the affected pages rather than leaving guidance in place that we can no longer support.

Corrections

We correct errors rather than quietly deleting them. If you find something inaccurate, out of date or misleading, email service@morganhillhomecomfort.com with the page address and the issue, or use the contact page. Substantive corrections are made promptly and the page's review date is updated.

Scope and limits
